Shape the board around the way you train
Player settings let you tune Move Forge for your eyes, pace and training mood. Neon color, background, pieces, arrows and the board should support focus instead of fighting for attention.
Choose piece style, board colors, highlight behavior and the whole app theme. The more comfortable the board feels, the easier it is to forge form: less friction, more moves that stay in memory.
Prioritize legibility before decoration. Light and dark squares should differ enough to remain clear without effort, while the last-move color must not blend into arrows or mistake markers. Test the setup on a phone at normal brightness and on a tablet in landscape orientation. If your attention follows the effects instead of the pieces after several minutes, reduce the neon contrast or the number of visual cues.
It can help to keep one preset for analysis and another for fast review. Clear arrows and evaluation labels support analysis, while fewer hints during repetition reduce distraction and test memory more honestly. After changing a theme, replay several familiar positions. If you confuse squares, overlook pawns, or need longer to recognize the side to move, return to a simpler setup.
